Vaalit + viisuboikottikatsomo

Viikki-speksin hallituskausi on vaihtumassa ja uutta hallitusta etsitään toimikaudelle 2024-2025. Uusi hallitus valitaan yhdistyksen kevätkokouksessa lauantaina 11.5. klo 16 Pupu-klusterilla (Mechelininkatu 3 D). Voit osallistua kokoukseen myös Zoom-etäyhteydellä, linkki Facebook-tapahtumassa.

Vaalikokouksen jälkeen alamme virittäytyä euroviisutunnelmiin kello 19:00 alkaen. Luvassa eeppistä viisuohjelmaa, kuten pukukilpailu ja viime vuonna debyyttinsä tehnyt Lip-sync show-off! Noin klo 21 alkavan viisuboikottikatsomon läpi meidät siivittää perinteiset viisubingo sekä kurkunkostutuspeli!

Tänä vuonna emme siis käännä kanavaa TV kakkoselle katsoaksemme vuoden 2024 viisufinaalia, vaan palaamme ajassa taaksepäin katsomaan vuonna 2007 Suomessa järjestetyyn Euroviisufinaaliin - haluamme näin palata myös rinnakkaistodellisuuteen, jossa Suomi olisi oikeasti voittanut viime vuonna.

Päätös boikotoida vuoden 2024 Euroviisuja, perustuu EBU:n päätökseen sallia Israelin osallistuminen viisuihin Gazan tilanteesta huolimatta. Koemme perinteisen Euroviisukatsomon järjestämisen olevan moraalitonta tilanteessa, jossa Israel, valtio joka on erityisesti viime kuukausien aikana käynyt aktiivista sotaa Gazassa aiheuttaen humanitaarisen kriisin, annetaan osallistua kilpailuun, jonka tarkoituksena on yhdistää Eurooppaa musiikin ja taiteen keinoin.

Viisuboikottikatsomossa halutaan kuitenkin juhlia euroviisuja ja eurooppalaista taidetta, jolloin vanhojen viisujen katsominen on hallituksen näkemyksen mukaan hyvä kompromissi. Vanhojen viisujen katsominen youtubesta ei myöskään tuota mainostuloja ja lisää katsojamäärää Euroviisuille. Mikäli Israelin kilpailuoikeus evätään, vaihdamme kanavaa Ylelle ja katsomme vuoden 2024 lähetyksen.

The operating period of board 2023-24 is coming to its end and now it is time to elect the new board members for 2024-25. The members will be elected during the annual Spring meeting, which will be organized at Pupu (Mechelininkatu 3 D) on the 11th of May at 4 pm. You can join the meeting remotely via Zoom.

After the election meeting, we start tuning into the Eurovision mood at 7 pm. There will be epic programs, such as a costume contest and the Lip-sync show-off that made its debut last year! Through the Eurovision boycott-watch party, that starts at around 21:00, we will be swept away by the traditional Eurovision Bingo and a game-where-you-might-need-to-drink-a-beverage!

So this year we will not turn into TV2 to watch the 2024 Eurovision final, but we will go back in time to watch the Eurovision final held in Finland in 2007 - we also want to return to a parallel reality where Finland would have really won last year.

The decision to boycott the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is based on the EBU's decision to allow Israel to participate in the contest despite the situation in Gaza. We feel that the organization of the traditional Eurovision watch is immoral in a situation where Israel, a country that has been waging an active war in Gaza in recent months, causing a humanitarian crisis, is allowed to participate in a competition which purpose is to unite Europe through music and art.

However, in the Eurovision boycott-watch we want to celebrate Eurovisions and European art, so watching old Eurovision is a good compromise according to the board's view. Watching old songs on YouTube does not generate advertising revenue or increase the number of viewers for Eurovision. If Israel's right to compete is denied, we will change to Yle and watch the 2024 broadcast.
